Meet the Founder

MBW was created after I saw first hand how much community heals mental health, and how much it is overlooked.

Growing up very independent, I didn’t think it was possible to heal with a group of people. From a young age, I was taking care of myself and having other people involved in my routine seemed to make things complicated. I didn’t feel supported in my community from my hometown and was often made fun of for my hopes and dreams.

It wasn’t until my early adulthood and finding uplifting communities was I able to see how much we all can learn from each other. As a neuroscience researcher, this concept of community actually healing the brain fascinated me. As I looked into it, I found it to be true in most circles, when it is kept in focus.

“I learned that mental health is a privilege

that most black women are not granted

from the second they are born.

I want to give us a chance.”

MBW is an uplifting community of the black feminine with a focus on mindfulness, healing, and growing. Our arms are open to anyone who wants to learn how to not only cope with anxiety, stress, and depression, but to also learn how to promote positive mental health for the generations that come after us.
